On the phrase ‘Inverse Receptacle’ : a reference to how I see the guitar as a dumpster-in-reverse of my inspirations and perceptions, especially as a deconstructionist attempting to be more constructive… a tangent on “one man’s trash…” perhaps. Additionally, it translates to the self; how we, as humans, seem to be absorbent containers that rapidly switch from intake to output by mirroring, miming, mimicking, emulating, and projecting a composite concept of self from our individually (and collectively) accumulated data. The guitar has been this same filtration system with equal elements going in as out. It is a deep pleasure to ruminate in the sonic rubble and uncover thrown out treasures to bring back into the aural sphere…
I asked my friend, Tom Rauwerdink, to create a video to accompany the audio. The visual compliments the music’s sense of reflection.
This piece is dedicated to my dear friend, Justin Seagren, who helped me sift through life’s garbage and find the treasures.
